I AM Behaviour. Insights. Relationships. Change. Honesty. I AM Michael Birch
Director and Behaviour/SEND Consultant

Michael Birch

Hello and welcome to my world. My name is Michael, and I have a background in supporting people with behavioural challenges, autism, SEND, and SEMH profiles, both adults and in particular children. Specifically, I have over 17 years of experience of working with children with autism and their families. My main experience has been within the Special Needs education sector. I have specialised in whole organisational change in relation to behaviour management, shifting years of ingrained practice in a short period of time, enabling staff to be much more effective and confident in working with people with Special Educational Needs, and improving the lives of the children they work with. I am enthusiastic about enabling you and your staff to work effectively in your role.

Client Testimonial

What People are Saying!

Michael led a powerful culture shift in how we approach behaviour: from control to connection, from punishment to understanding.

Deborah Hall

Deputy Head, New Bridge School, Oldham.

Michael combines a forensic approach to unpicking and understanding the needs of individual pupils combined with a capacity to mentor and coach staff through the application of key principles that will promote children's positive behaviour. His work played a leading role in shaping our staff team's understanding of positive approaches to supporting pupils' behavioural needs.

Gavin Lyons

Executive Head, New Bridge Group, Oldham

It has been an absolute joy to work with Michael. His work at New Bridge School has not only improved student behaviour but has also restored trust and built bridges with our families. Through his bespoke training and support, he has deepened our staff’s understanding of the reasons behind behaviour, helping them respond more effectively and consistently. Michael has a natural gift for de-escalating tensions and bringing people together, and his contribution to projects like Books Beyond Words has enriched our whole community. His warmth and passion for our students shine through everything he does.
